How to make diseases disappear

Doctor Rangan Chatterjee asks: Are we looking at chronic disease wrong?

When Doctor Rangan Chattergee found his infant son lifeless and unresponsive, his fellow doctors thought it was a case of meningitis. But after multiple painful and dangerous procedures and days in a foreign hospital, they uncovered the real and shocking cause: a simple vitamin deficiency, something that doctors simply are not taught about.

This frightening and potentially tragic incident caused Dr. Chattergee to step back and look at his profession with a critical and unbiased eye and ask, “What would happen if we started treating the cause of chronic diseases instead of just the symptoms?” Five years later, Dr. Chattergee has made it his business to learn all the things he didn’t learn in medical school and which he believes every doctor should be aware of, and his practice is bearing fruit.

In this impassioned video, Dr. Chattergee argues that while modern medicine is great at treating acute conditions, it approaches chronic disease from the wrong angle and the people suffering are patients.
